Let’s stop having our welfare ignored, and start creating our financial freedom!
Over the past few days, during International Women’s Month, we’ve been reminded (as if we ever forgot) that the welfare of Black women is not a primary concern in our society. We have yet again had to watch double-standards and hypocrisy being played out before our very eyes. And it hurts. It hurts deeply.
It’s important for us to call it out, in whatever way we can. But what’s even more important is for us to start to find ways to create our own freedom, and to empower our own voices. Empowerment doesn’t start with the financial – it starts within and extends to the external. But the reality of the external is that financial freedom and financial independence does give you a certain amount of power. It gives you a level of protection from a life of grind. It gives you more power to choose and to make the decisions that are best for your mental and emotional health. And in a society that is potentially headed for a mental health crisis, this is is of the utmost importance.
So choose to become financially educated. And choose to make financial decisions that your future self and your children will thank you for. Over the next few months, The Black Network will be exploring the subject of money, financial education, and financial freedom because we believe everybody can and should create this for themselves or the next generation. Please join us on this journey and let’s learn and grow together.
We’re starting our journey with a webinar sharing tips and tools for financial planning. In the UK, on average, women between the ages of 35 and 44, have 28% less wealth than men. And by the time they hit age 64, the average gender wealth gap is 42%. So whether you’re in a committed relationship or proudly single, let’s start learning how to build and pass down wealth.
In our first financial session, our expert speaker, Medina McKenzie of Belvedere Wealth Management, will share valuable insights and practical advice to help you make informed decisions about your money.
